It would be good to tie in a pleasant interface to whitelisting and so forth, since the chief reason people will be using our webmail is that they cannot ssh in.
How to do this and still allow us to release the code for the service, and make it useful to others / solicit contributions from outside needs some thought.
Possibly we would have some optional module for local stuff, and do something intelligent with permissioning.
Given the history of webmail systems, with their slew of cross-site scripting problems, and the state of browsers - where handing untrusted content to a user on an authenticated site likely compromises their auth details - we should stick to just presenting plain text mail to people, and allowing them to download the other parts in some sort of archived format.
